This Is Me in Grade 9

There is a song by the Canadian band “Bare Naked Ladies” called “This Is Me in Grade 9.”

It’s a fun song, because most of us think back to our first year of high school as pretty cringe-worthy.

With that in mind, I decided to just rip the bandaid off, and put my high school photos out there right away on my website. This will prove I can handle the unrelenting kidding that may come from it. Or maybe not. Hopefully readers will share the concept that the ‘present day’ me is a little more refined than first year high school me.

We were able to track down some photos from my “Archer” Yearbook. I attend Applewood Heights Secondary School in Mississauga from 1967 to 1971. Mississauga is a fast growing suburb of Metropolitan Toronto. The population of Mississauga was 100,000 in 1967. According to Statistics Canada, the population in 2011 was 713,000 and it is now Canada’s 6^th largest city.

Mississauga has gone through a great deal of change since my high school years, as have I. Most are for the better, and I am very grateful to have grown up in a place that provided me with such great opportunities.
